There has been much discussion of late about the pros and cons of “nonpartisan” elections, and whether they should be scrapped. I believe they should be, primarily as a means of simplifying the voting process for the masses. It’s possible, since you’re reading an op-ed, that you are a political junkie — an individual who obsessively follows the news, monitors the words and deeds of elected officials, and makes mental (perhaps even actual) notes about candidates vying for office.
