Quinte residents can expect a damp and dreary couple of days as heavy rains move across Eastern Ontario Thursday and Friday.

In Belleville and area, precipitation of 30 mm to 60 mm are called for by Environment Canada in a rainfall advisory.

East of the city could see higher rainfall accumulations.

In central and northern reaches of Hastings County, rain could turn to a slushy, snowy mix, said forecasters.

“A long duration rain event is expected for parts of eastern Ontario. Rain, at times heavy, will begin early Thursday morning and continue through Friday evening before tapering off. The heaviest rain is expected to fall Thursday afternoon through Friday morning,” said the national weather forecaster.
