BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WIAT) -- Childcare Resources, a non-profit organization assisting families with childcare and referral services, is now feeling the ripple effects of the government shutdown.
The organization declared Wednesday the Head Start Day of Action and spent the day calling Alabama elected officials and asking for an end to the shutdown.
"This is becoming a heavy distraction to our staff, to our families, they're concerned about 'What do I do tomorrow?' 'What is tomorrow going to look like?'" said Joan Wright, the Executive Director of Childcare Resources.
Childcare Resources works to provide early childhood education and meals to low-income families, but due to the government shutdown, they're starting to feel the impact right here in Jefferson County.
