An Edinburgh vet practice has contacted all its existing clients with advice on what to do with their domestic pets around Bonfire Night when there may be fireworks outside.

The team at Batchelor, Davidson & Watson Vets shared the advice with us for any of our readers who own dogs, cats and other domestic animals to help them stay safe.

Create a comfortable space at home that your pet can retreat to

You can use blankets, toys, and familiar scents, and their water should be moved nearby. For smaller pets, bring their cage or hutch away from windows and don’t be tempted to take them out to handle, as they are more likely to nip or jump and be injured. Closing windows and curtains and playing relaxing music or white noise can also help create a calm environment.
