The Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) is launching a new trial in the hopes of increasing the amount of people claiming Pension Credit. It comes after new research from the department found that 33% of eligible pensioners across the North West are still yet to claim Pension Credit despite being eligible.

In total, this amount to around £204 million being left unclaimed. However, a new trial being carried out in partnership with Age UK and Independent Age will see letters being sent to 2,000 pensioners across England, urging them to claim Pension Credit which is worth £4,300 a year on average.
