Flight operations at Trivandrum airport to be halted for 5 hours as runway to be opened for ‘Arattu procession’

Thiruvananthapuram : Thiruvananthapuram airport authorities have confirmed that the flight services from the international airport will will be halted for five hours today to make way for the ‘ Alpassi Arattu ‘ procession of Sree Padmanabhaswamy Temple.

The annual ritual that is been conducted for centuries by the Padmanabha swamy temple begins at 3pm at the temple premises where thousands of devotees, priests and the Travancore royal family members are expected to join.

What is ‘Padmanabha swamy Arattu ’?

The Padmanabhaswamy Arattu is a grand ceremonial procession that concludes the biannual festivals at the Sree Padmanabhaswamy Temple in Thiruvananthapuram. During the ritual, the temple deities are carried to the Shanghumugham beach for a holy dip in the sea.
