Union Ministry of Road Transport and Highways has ordered the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) and highway developers to create their own YouTube channels and upload regular videos showing the progress of highway projects at different stages.
Union Minister Nitin Gadkari announced that the move aims to stress the need for accountability and transparency in public works. He said that QR-coded hoardings will soon be placed along national highways, allowing travellers to scan the codes to see full details about the project — including the contractor, consultant, and government officials in charge of the stretch.
Speaking at a public event, Gadkari said the move is meant to ensure that everyone involved in road construction takes responsibility for their work.
