HENDERSON, Ky (WEHT) - A Madisonville woman is in jail for allegedly punching a child in the face and grabbing another by the neck.

According to the Madisonville Police Department, an officer received a complaint from DCBS on Wednesday that two children were assaulted.

The children were reported as five and seven years old, and they claim they were assaulted by an adult who lives at the home whom they call their mother while getting ready for school. The woman was later identified as 22-year-old Brittany Emerson.

Officials state the five-year-old had bruising around the right eye, and the seven-year-old had bruising around the neck and back.

MPD says Emerson later admitted to punching the five-year-old in the face and grabbing the seven-year-old around the neck and punching his back.
