SPRINGFIELD, Mo. (KY3) - If you notice your heater working a little harder to keep your home warm as it gets colder, it might be a sign you need to weatherize.
The Ozarks Area Community Action Corporation has a weatherization assistance program to help low-income families prepare their homes for harsher weather, both warm and cold.
Weatherizing is the process of insulating and air-sealing a home to keep the indoor temperature stable without the AC or heat running constantly.
Doing that can help families feel more comfortable physically and financially.
“The savings that they get from weatherization vary from house to house,” said OACAC Weatherization director Todd Steinmann, “but the national statistic is around $400 a year. So that’s $400 that they have for other things that they need
