BLAIR, Neb. (WOWT) - The Washington County Sheriff has released an update on a situation where a man who allegedly shot at deputies went missing from the hospital Tuesday.

In a release Thursday, Sheriff Mike Robinson shared that “mistakes were made” from law enforcement in the incident. Robinson says the actions of the sheriff’s office are under full review.

“I want to strongly state that Blair Hospital is not responsible or at fault for the subject walking out of the hospital,” Robinson states in the release, posted to social media.

The incident began when authorities got a request for a “well-being check” of a man having a mental health crisis Tuesday. They arrived at the scene near Hill Creek Road and County Road P4, about 2.5 miles west of Herman.
