The Nationals plan to name Blake Butera their next manager, a source told MLB.com's Jessica Camerato on Thursday morning. The club has not confirmed the news.

Butera, 33, was named the Rays' senior director of player development in October 2023 after one year as an assistant field coordinator. Butera played parts of two seasons in Tampa Bay’s Minor League system, then spent one year as a Minor League coach and four seasons as a manager.

The Nationals had a managerial vacancy after dismissing Dave Martinez in July and parting ways after the season with interim skipper Miguel Cairo.
