CLAY COUNTY, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — A driver in Clay County was tragically killed after a deer came through the windshield of the vehicle and hit the driver, according to the Clay County Sheriff's Office.
The accident happened on State Road 46 near County Road 200 East in the early morning hours of October 30. Initial reports to the sheriff's office claimed a vehicle was in the woods on the north side of the road way.
Clay County Sheriff Brison Swearingen said that as first responders arrived at the vehicle, they found an unresponsive person inside.
An investigation by the sheriff's office determined that the driver was killed during a collision with a deer in the roadway. Officials said the deer came through the windshield and hit the driver.
