A new ‘mid-tech’ development in Cambridge has been approved for a second time, after Anglian Water called for the plans to be halted. Councillors at Cambridge City Council agreed in July to approve plans to redevelop The Paddocks industrial estate, in Cherry Hinton Road, into a new ‘mid-tech’ development.
‘Mid-tech’ includes research and development facilities, light industrial space, and offices. It is defined as “modern general industrial premises that have a greater emphasis on the office/research and development element alongside manufacturing and storage”.
The developer, Columbia Threadneedle Investments Ltd, asked for full planning permission for the first phase of the redevelopment, and asked for outline permission to redevelop the rest of the site.
