WASHINGTON — The Washington Nationals have found a new manager after three months of searching.

Blake Butera, 33, is the youngest manager in Major League Baseball in more than 50 years. He previously spent four seasons as a minor league manager for the Tampa Bay Rays. Combined, his teams held a record of 258-144.

The announcement comes shortly after the Nationals announced Paul Toboni, 35, as their new President of Baseball Operations earlier this month.

Toboni previously came from the Boston Red Sox, where he spent the first 10 years of his young career. He started in 2015 as a baseball operations intern before moving into a scouting position across northern Texas and northern Louisiana. He became the Assistant Director of Amateur Scouting from 2017-19 and was named Director of Amateur
