ARLINGTON — The Vermont Land Trust (VLT), Vermont Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC), and the Tibbetts family came together to protect nearly 250 acres of working forest, the Batten Kill River, and significant associated streams, the land trust announced this week.
The newly conserved parcel consists of managed forestland, a significant stretch of the Batten Kill, Benedict Hollow Brook and other cold-water streams, wetlands, and agricultural land. It abuts a swath of protected forestland in the Taconic Mountains. The effort was funded by the DEC.
