BENNINGTON — Town Clerk Cassandra Barbeau, who has served in the post for 11 years - and previously worked in the office for an additional 20 years - has notified the Select Board that she will be leaving next month.

“We'll take up appointing to fill out the remainder of Cassie’s term at our next meeting,” board Chair Tom Haley said this week. “Cassie has been an exemplary town clerk. Her knowledge and experience will be difficult to replace.”

Haley added, “In replacing Tim Corcoran, Cassie had big shoes to fill. Since then, she has raised the bar even higher. I congratulate her on her well-earned retirement. We will miss her.”
