GHENT, WV (WVNS) -- Governor Morrisey announced on Tuesday the state is hosting a donation drive for food bank and that the state will match the amount given.
It was announced on Wednesday SNAP benefits for November have been paused and will be released when the government reopens.
However, that still leaves 270,000 West Virginians wondering how they will put food on the table.
Governor Patrick Morrisey said the state has allotted up to $13 million in funds that will be paid out to the food banks in West Virginia.
He said the have already distributed $5 million to local food banks.
"We're asking people to consider giving, charitable donation. This isn't mandatory, we're not trying to pressure anyone to do it, but we believe that during times like this West Virginians stand up. They do
