Here’s what’s happening
The general election is around the corner and several positions are open.
In Abilene, there are three seats on the city commission and three seats on the Abilene School District’s Board of Education.
After eliminating four candidates, six people are competing for the three city commission seats. The only incumbent who’s made it this far is John Kollhoff, who is currently serving his fourth year on the commission.
In the USD 435 election, the only seat with a race is the position 5 seat with newcomer Kelly Mayden and Chris West, the incumbent.
Megan Armstrong is running uncontested for the position four seat, and Jeff Bathurst is running uncontested for the position six seat. Both Armstrong and Bathurst are incumbents.
