CADDO PARISH, La. (KTAL/KMSS) – A Shreveport man, Fatonious Darell Ballard, has been sentenced to life in prison for his role in a shooting that left one man dead.
The sentencing took place on Wednesday, October 29, 2025, following Ballard's conviction for second-degree murder.
The incident occurred on February 18, 2024, when Ballard shot and killed 29-year-old Dwight Green during a confrontation at a barbecue grill near Broadway and Cleveland avenues.
Ballard was then shot in the leg by another individual at the scene as he attempted to run away.
District Judge John D. Mosely Jr. handed down the life sentence, along with an additional 20 years for possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
