The Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly on Wednesday passed four reform-oriented bills, including a key amendment to strengthen the cooperative sector.

The Jammu and Kashmir Cooperative Societies (Amendment) Bill, 2025, moved by Minister for Cooperatives Javid Ahmad Dar, empowers the Special Tribunal under the 1988 Act to also function as a Cooperative Appellate Tribunal.

This move aims to expedite dispute resolution, improve governance, and enhance operational efficiency in cooperatives across the Union Territory.

Alongside, the Assembly passed bills reforming tenancy laws, labour welfare, and Panchayati Raj systems, reflecting a broader agenda of administrative modernization and grassroots empowerment in Jammu and Kashmir.
