Illinois State police responded to a deadly crash Friday morning on the Dan Ryan Expressway near Marquette Road where one person was killed, one was injured and a third occupant fled the scene on foot.

Shortly before 6 a.m., troopers arrived at the scene on the Ryan in northbound lanes at Marquette Road after a report of a fatal crash. Police said one occupant was fatally ejected from the vehicle, another was taken to an area hospital for injuries, and a third person fled the scene on foot.

All northbound lanes were closed for a crash investigation. It was not immediately clear how the crash occurred, or when lanes would reopen to traffic.
