COLUMBUS, Ohio -- For the fifth straight season, Ohio State is using a game against Penn State to put the finishing touches on its initial College Football Playoff resume.

And four the last two years, those wins have punctuated their place as the nation’s No. 1 team in those first rankings, meaning all it had to do was keep winning to keep it.

While the latter has yet to happen, the former is again on the line this Saturday when the Nittany Lions come to town. Only this time this game isn’t part of building that resume nearly as much thanks to PSU’s lost season. It comes into Saturday still searching for its first win over a Power 4 opponent since its first round CFP win over SMU last season.
