As a member of the Solon High School girls’ cross-country team, senior Camryn Cayne spends race days kicking herself into high gear and zooming around at a high tempo.
However, Oct. 25 was different for Cayne, who is also a defender on the girls’ soccer team.
That’s because the Ohio High School Athletic Association Division I regional cross-country meet was being held at Boardman High School at 3:30 p.m., where Cayne hoped to punch her ticket to a third straight state meet, and the soccer team was scheduled to face North Royalton for an OHSAA Division II district championship at 5 p.m. at Eastlake North High School. The distance between the two sites is one hour and 26 minutes.
