CADDO PARISH, La. (KTAL/KMSS) – A man with a violent history of domestic abuse awaits a life sentence for the brutal and ultimately fatal beating of his girlfriend.

On Tuesday, October 30, 2025, Brandon Lindsey was found guilty of the March 2023 murder of Heaven Weed, 23. During an interview in March 2023, Weed's mother, Chasity Weed, described her daughter as, “Funny, smart, beautiful girl. Just a very beautiful soul and a giving person. My best friend, actually.”

Weed's mother brought the victim to Ochsner LSU Health after she was found unconscious and unresponsive in her home. She was severely beaten with extensive injuries that left her with brain swelling, fractured ribs, lacerations, and bruising all over her body.
