Barrington resident Mike Myers said interest in local coyotes continues to grow. Myers, who has spent the last five years tracking the movements of coyotes throughout town and helped establish the Barrington Coyote Safety Group on Facebook, said the group has grown over the last couple months.

“There’s been a ton of engagement, and interest keeps growing,” Myers wrote in a message to the Barrington Times.

Myers said his goal is to help residents strike a balance of peaceful coexistence with the local wildlife. Myers said more education about the coyotes’ habits and behaviors will lead to fewer negative encounters.

Myers said there are currently five coyotes in Barrington — two pairs (male and female each) and a lone male.
