LEO-CEDARVILLE, Ind. (WPTA) - A ribbon-cutting held in Leo-Cedarville on Friday celebrated the reopening of the Grabill Road Bridge.

Officials with the Allen County Board of Commissioners, Allen County Highway Department, and Town of Leo-Cedarville joined community members along the St. Joseph River for the ceremony.

They say a bridge has connected the west and east banks of the river for over a hundred years, serving as an essential route for communities in northeast Allen County.

The most recent bridge was built in 1965, but it was beginning to show its age.

According to officials, the restoration of the bridge included a re-done bridge deck. The bases of the piers were also secured with riprap, and a pipe 30’ under the bridge was lined with a product to extend its life.
