There is a new all-time rushing king in Indiana high school football.
Knox senior Myles McLaughlin broke the record of 10,867 career yards set by 2019 Mr. Football Charlie Spegal of New Palestine during Friday night’s home game against Griffith in a Class 3A Sectional 25 semifinal game.
McLaughlin broke the record with a 21-yard run and his team leading 36-14.
McLaughlin came into Friday’s game needing 271 rushing yards to break Spegal’s record. Before Friday’s game, he had rushed for 3,603 yards and 55 touchdowns for the season and 10,596 yards and 158 TDs overall. He set the single-season state rushing record last week, breaking the mark previously set by Mr. Football Markell Jones of Columbus East (3,536 yards) in 2014.
McLaughlin leads a Knox team that brought a 10-0 record and No.
