LOUISVILLE, Ky. — A proposed amendment to Louisville Metro's mask ordinance would prohibit all law enforcement agencies, including ICE, from concealing their identities with masks.

Councilman JP Lyninger (D-6) introduced legislation this week to prevent federal, state and local law enforcement agents from wearing masks.

This measure was prompted by reports of Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents regularly wearing masks, concealing their identities during immigration raids.

In 2024, Mayor Craig Greenberg announced that his administration would enforce Louisville’s mask ordinance when people wear masks in the commission of a crime.
