SIOUX CITY, Iowa (KCAU) —On Saturday, the federally funded Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) is set to lapse, leaving many Siouxlanders vulnerable. As food banks anticipate serving a record number of families in the coming weeks, Iowa-based grocery chains are offering help.
Hy-Vee has several community support initiatives at all of its store locations. From November 3 to November 7, every Hy-Vee store with hot food service will offer a free kids' meal for ages 12 and under. The same meal will also be available to everyone else for $ 3 from 4 to 7 P.M.
In the coming weeks, Hy-Vee will also share recipes on its social media channels that families can prepare for $3 or less per serving.
These efforts are in addition to Hyvee's recent $100,000 donation to its Feeding America
