Halloween has come and gone and the Steelers didn’t swing any deals for Freddy Krueger (heavy-handed defensive lineman), Pennywise (rangy safety with great closing speed) or Frankenstein (big body at wide receiver).
But the trade deadline is this week — Nov. 4 to be exact — and what used to be a sleepy afternoon around the NFL is now much more of an anticipated date on the league calendar. While it’s still a far cry from this day in the NBA, NHL or MLB, interest has risen along with action, whether that’s due to general managers getting more aggressive, impatience with young players or a shift in philosophy on the value of draft picks.
