The last time that Fairview football graced the postseason, only a year ago, the Knights saw their Class 5A state championship hopes snuffed out by Legend in the semifinals.

They found themselves running out of gas in the second half of that contest, which ultimately led to their downfall.

“It hurt so bad because we knew what we had and we knew it should have been ours,” junior quarterback Ki Ellison said. “A lot of our guys are coming back, especially the senior class who all played in that game with a chip on their shoulder, and they’re ready to make another run.”

Following that game, they said goodbye to one of their biggest playmakers in Daily Camera player of the year Jordan Rechel, who ended his final campaign with 29 touchdowns. Normally, that kind of loss would set back any prog
