The Odisha government’s decision to exclude the MSME sector from paying land conversion fees and rent is a huge relief to business owners establishing small and medium-sized enterprises. Revenue and Disaster Management Minister Suresh Pujari made the announcement Friday, stating that entrepreneurs establishing micro, small, and medium-sized businesses (MSMEs) in the state are no longer need to apply for land conversion or pay associated fees.

Until now, MSME owners have been paying 1% of the benchmark land value as a conversion fee and an extra 1% in rent instead. As of right now, the state government has waived both charges.
