LA PUENTE — Bishop Amat first-year football coach Kory Minor struggled for words after a 24-7 victory over Serra on Friday that allowed the Lancers to finish in a second-place tie in the Mission League with Chaminade, and earn a ticket to the CIF Southern Section playoffs that begin next week.
Minor took over a Lancers team that was coming off of back-to-back losing seasons for the first time in school history, and coming off its worst season ever, winning just two games last season.
With Friday’s win, Amat improves to 6-4 and 4-2 in league play. Bishop Amat will find out what division it will compete in when the playoff pairings are released on Sunday.
