The IHSA Class 6A playoffs journey begins Saturday when Hononegah (5-4) travels to La Grange Park to face the top-seeded Nazareth Academy Roadrunners (8-1) at Dennis Moran Field.

Nazareth enters the postseason riding a six-game winning streak after dismantling St. Francis 42-16 last week behind its dynamic trio of playmakers Jake Cestone, Trenton Walker and Johnny Colon. The Roadrunners’ high-powered offense will test a Hononegah squad that has dropped two consecutive games, including last week’s 8-6 defensive battle against Belvidere.

Hononegah will lean heavily on senior quarterback Drew Shockley and senior running back Tyler Banker, who rushed for 154 yards and a touchdown in last week’s loss, along with senior receiver Alex Peterson as they look to pull off the first-round win agains
