Statistics have revealed that 14 injuries result from violence in capital schools every day – and councillors are to consider ways to deal with it.
Data which will be put before the city’s Education Committee next week shows that violence in schools towards staff and pupils causing injury has risen almost 36% on last year, with 2,680 cases.
And violence not causing injury has also increased by 60% with 1,447 cases.
Edinburgh’s Education Convener has called the figures ‘concerning’, and said that the council has been taking action to improve reporting over the past two years.
A report prepared for the committee lays out a proposal to help combat the problem, including a revised plan around dealing with bad behaviour in schools.
Extra support would be made available to staff facing viol
