MORGANTOWN -- The Lone Star State hasn't been too kind to the West Virginia University football team since 2020.

WVU has played 11 games in Texas since 2020 and lost eight of them, including five of the last seven.

The Mountaineers (2-6, 0-5 Big 12) will make the trek to Houston, where the Cougars will welcome West Virginia into TDECU Stadium on Saturday at noon (TV: FS1).

It'll be the second time these two have played each other, with the last coming in 2023 when the Cougars defeated the Mountaineers 41-39 on a Hail Mary.

The two teams look vastly different in 2025 than in 2023. WVU has a completely new coaching staff and welcomed in 81 new players, while Houston is in its second season with coach Willie Fritz.
