Hundreds of signs and candidates campaigning hard should help us show up in big numbers this coming Tuesday. It's important for Portsmouth's future. Our elected officials may be called upon to do double-duty to protect us against what the federal government may do during the next couple of years. And they'll have to mitigate financial cutbacks by Washington for low-income housing and elimination of federal and state funding.
