In an immediate response to the recent police shootings stemming from minor traffic stops, many police departments in the southeast Michigan are utilizing every resource possible to combat such incidents. One proposed tactic that was considered revisiting is the stop-and-frisk initiative where officers would pull over, temporarily detain, and search a person based on reasonable suspicion that they are involved in criminal activity and may be armed and dangerous.
Various offenses, including small infractions such as a broken windshield or tinted windows, could be enough to stand out and warrant a traffic stop.
