The Odisha government has declared a local holiday on November 3 in four southern districts—Ganjam, Gajapati, Nabarangpur, and Malkangiri.
The holiday will also apply to Baliguda sub-division in Kandhamal district.
Revenue Divisional Commissioner (RDC) made the announcement in view of Kartika month’s last Monday, a day of religious significance in the region. The holiday will apply to all government offices and institutions in the notified areas.
Kartika month holds spiritual importance across Odisha, especially in southern districts where devotees observe rituals and visit temples. The last Monday of Kartika is marked by mass prayers, fasting, and community gatherings.
Baliguda sub-division in Kandhamal has also been included in the holiday list due to local customs and participation
