Le Roy History: Town's experience is set in 'stone'

LE ROY — The limestone deposits in Le Roy are an important part of the community’s earliest history.

When early settlers came to the area, they were able to use the limestone near the surface. Crushed limestone was spread on the ground as “fertilizer” to adjust the acidity of the soil.
