Four Eversource employees were injured working on a transformer in New Bedford, according to the New Bedford Fire Department.

On Friday after 8:30 a.m., firefighters were dispatched to 1457 East Rodney French Blvd. for reports of a possible explosion and an injured Eversource worker, the department wrote on Facebook . When they arrived, they found workers with multiple injuries and called for additional firefighters and the New Bedford EMS.

Workers told the firefighters the incident happened when they were working on a transformer. The department said the incident caused a brief power outage to over 1,300 customers.
