Iwould have started Jakub Dobes in goal for a third straight game Saturday when the Canadiens face the Ottawa Senators at the Bell Centre (7 p.m., Citytv, SNE, SN1, TVA Sports).
But I understand why head coach Martin St. Louis decided to go with Samuel Montembeault instead.
Dobes has a perfect 6-0 record this season, along with a 1.97 goals-against average and a .930 save percentage after starting three of the last four games. Montembeault is 2-3-0 with a 3.82 GAA and a .842 save percentage after losing his last two games while giving up 10 goals and posting a .804 save percentage.
The fact Dobes gave up three goals on 11 shots in the third period of Tuesday night’s 4-3 overtime win over the Kraken in Seattle made the decision to start Montembeault easier for St. Louis. The head coach
