Some may not like the expanded 12-team College Football Playoff as they claim it lets too many teams in or diminishes the regular season. This week in the SEC proves every single ounce of that logic untrue with a monster game.

The Tennessee Volunteers (6-2, 3-2 SEC) are hosting the Oklahoma Sooners (6-2, 2-2 SEC) in Neyland Stadium, which will be rocking under the night sky, in a game that is essentially a win-or-go-home game for the College Football Playoff. The winner stays alive, the loser is looking to make a New Year's Six bowl at best.

If you are looking for some betting advice for the matchup, we've got you covered. Here are the latest odds for the game, courtesy of BetMGM.

Tennessee vs. Oklahoma prediction, pick:

I hate to be blunt, but can either of these teams figure out how to win a big game? I mean, they are winless in their four chances to make a statement. Tennessee has lost to Georgia and Alabama, while Oklahoma has lost to Texas and Ole Miss. Someone has to win this game, and the loser can kiss their playoff chances goodbye.

Admittedly, I am not sold on either of these teams. Oklahoma's defense has looked solid this year, but it did show cracks last week against Ole Miss. I view that as more of a compliment to Ole Miss. The issue for me is the turnovers from John Mateer and the run game, which musters up just 3.7 yards per carry, No. 71 in the country.

On the other side, can Tennessee stop anybody from scoring? The Vols give up 36 points per game in SEC play and have not shown any signs of fixing anything. They are the No. 99-ranked team in America in total defense. That simply isn't good enough to go far with. Sure, they score with the best of them, but what about a game where your offense is stuck in the mud? Can they hold up? They have yet to prove it.

This game comes down to the Vols' defense getting enough stops. Tennessee is going to score on offense. It's what they are. It's who they are. They will have to put trust in their passing defense, which is pitifully ranked as the No. 122 passing defense in the nation, going up against John Mateer. I think it's a Mateer interception that decides this game late, which sees Tennessee's playoff life last for one more week.
