PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — A 13-year-old boy wearing a costume was hit by a car and seriously injured in Southeast Portland Friday night.
Portland police said they responded to the scene on reports of a crash around 7:45 p.m. near Southeast Hawthorne Boulevard and Southeast 22nd Avenue. SE Hawthorne Blvd then closed for about an hour between SE 21st and SE 23rd avenues before reopening.
"The person struck was a 13-year-old boy wearing a costume, so it appears to be Halloween related," said Sgt. Kevin Allen, a Portland Police Bureau spokesperson. "His family was at the scene and they went to the hospital with him."
Police are continuing to investigate. Allen said the driver remained at the scene and cooperated with the investigation. There was no indication that intoxication was a factor. T
