COLUMBUS, Ohio – The big news for Penn State isn’t necessarily who is out today against No. 1 Ohio State, it’s who is in.
Veteran guard Vega Ioane is not listed on the Nittany Lions’ availability report.
A second-team All-Big Ten choice last season, Ioane did not play in PSU’s 25-24 loss to Iowa two weeks ago due to an unspecified injury.
Ioane’s return should be a boost for a Penn State running game that is expected to feature Kaytron Allen against Ohio State.
Another PSU vet, edge rusher Zuriah Fisher, is also expected to play against the Buckeyes. Fisher played limited snaps against the Hawkeyes.
Lions backup quarterback Jaxon Smolik is out. Smolik could not finish the Iowa game after suffering an injury to his left arm.
