STRONGSVILLE, Ohio — The Medina Bees were never supposed to be here. Before John Marshall opted out of the Division I, Region 1 playoffs, the Bees were the 12th and final seed, and set to face off against No. 5 Perrysburg.
With John Marshall out, the Bees moved up to the 11th seed, where they had the opportunity to get revenge on Strongsville after a midseason blowout loss.
Outside expectations were low for the Bees after a previous 42-14 loss against the Mustangs this season.
The Bees, led by senior quarterback Beckett Vogrin, soon proved everyone wrong, with a 28-25 win in Friday’s playoff opener .
“We feel like we’re playing with house money,” said Medina head coach Larry Laird, a sentiment echoed by both Vogrin and wide receiver Brian Wucher.
