Provincial police say it may be time to issue a refresher about the legal requirement for motorists to come to a full stop in front of stop signs following complaints in the Nolalu and Hymers areas that signs are being frequently ignored.
“Might be time for a social media post reminding motorists what stop on a stop sign means,” a regional OPP spokeswoman said this week.
In a recent online post, one resident said they had observed numerous motorists ignoring stop signs in the area of Highway 588 and Annala and Old Silver Mountain roads.
“The number of people I see completely ignoring (stop signs) on a daily basis is alarming,” the person posted. “There are children waiting for the school bus down there in the morning, and people walking to get their mail.”
