The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency (ALEA) will investigate an in-custody death at the Tuscumbia County Police Department.
According to a press release, the person was found unresponsive on October 31.
"Life-saving measures were immediately attempted and emergency medical personnel were notified," police stated. "Unfortunately, the individual was later pronounced deceased."
Tuscumbia Police said it is standard procedure for the ALEA to take over an investigation in this situation, and they have notified the proper authorities.
The identity of the individual has not been released pending notification of the next of kin.
