SHAKER HEIGHTS, Ohio -- With the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits evaporating during the federal government shutdown, the city is putting its money where the hungry mouths are.
Local officials hope to provide some relief by matching donations -- “dollar for dollar” and up to $10,000 -- to the Hunger Network of Greater Cleveland at bit.ly/hnfeedshakerheights
That standing offer through “Shaker Shares: Neighbors Helping Neighbors,” will continue through Nov. 30.
“In response to reductions and other uncertainties surrounding the federal SNAP program, the City of Shaker Heights is asking those who live and work in Shaker to donate funds," officials announced Friday.
