ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC) — A $3 million gift has reached the halfway mark of the Memorial Art Gallery's goal of $6 million to allow free admission to everyone.

Abby and Doug Bennett, along with the Sands Family Foundation, established the Abby and Doug Bennett and Sands Family Foundation Free for All Endowment with a $3 million donation, inviting others to join them in meeting the challenge of raising an additional $3 million.

Once $6 million is raised, the museum will offer free admission to all visitors permanently. Fulfilling the mission of the museum to be ‘a means alike of pleasure and education for all the citizens of Rochester' according to Emily Sibley Watson, who donated the museum to the University of Rochester in 1913.
